Blindness doesn't need monsters, aliens, or a fascist regime to inspire fear. It presents one of the darkest dystopian scenarios I've ever read. A sudden blindness epidemic followed by the rapid collapse of society? It's such a simple premise, yet it feels frighteningly realistic. More than once, I found myself wondering: What would I do if I were in their shoes? Would I lose my humanity too?
