another one of those books that make me wonder if the author is in my walls. this book was beautiful & made for me. i adored the overlapping storylines and piecing together the larger plot with how they overlapped. i loved this book. it was, to me, paced perfectly, alternated between the storylines perfectly, portrayed grief and love and the complicated dynamic of family perfectly, portrayed the experience of being trans, of being a sister-turned-brother, portrayed the sometimes-kicking, sometimes-lying struggle of chronic illness & what that does to your self image, SO WELL. sorry like its 12am and i just finished this book and i am impossibly in love.

“oh let me read something short before bed,” i say, picking up the YOU ARE GOING TO DIE book

oh this made me sick with worry. so viscerally uncomfortable. claustrophobic and nauseating. if i had read this book when i was in high school i would have never shut up about it. absolutely horrifying. stellar work.
