I can understand why a lot of people dislike this book, but it was interesting for me. A dystopian world (in my head this was America) where women’s autonomy has been stripped. Girls are taken to the lottery station to collect a ticket that will determine the path their life will take them on. Women who defy this ticket are shunned, considered criminals, monitored by the authority.
The story would have benefited from further wworld building, but it was an interesting take on the fears that many AFAB people have regarding our bodily autonomy, right to choose, and the things we will do to maintain our freedom.
