oh dear heavens my progress only grows...a negative correlation to my stamina and energy which is rapidly depleting... the good news is...I don't have to finish today!!! I have a free day at school tomorrow, so I have one more day to get it done with! Hooray! Rejoice!

    Thought on Themes in Frankenstein

hat do you think are the strongest themes in Frankenstein? For me, it's so rife with themes that are relevant today: dehumanization of difference (disability, neurodivergence, race, gender), parental alienation, anger at society, and what it means for humanity to have responsibility over their domain. I will always come to bat for the book and the Creation, but I'm curious as to what others think!

making a very pleasing amount of progress in my speedrun. My notes are also plentiful. I'm really appreciating the change of pace in the writing, as I felt it dragged on a bit when Victor was narrating.

I have to finish this book within 8-9 hours from now. And annotations. And notes and discussion points. I started this speedrun from hell last night at 15% and progressed to about 20% then. Wish me luck.

I rate so high but I genuinely think this is one of those books that truly deserves a 5 overall. The ending? Literal screams. If I didn’t have 2 weeks and 2 more books, I would RUN to get the sequel. Literal art.

    This book.

My first interaction with Les Miserables was in 2023, when I started On my Own in my singing lessons from the musical. I listened to the whole thing not long after and fell in love. 3 days later I bought an abridged edition. I finished that version and moved on to the Denny edition. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, this story changes lives. It’s a long read, but the beauty of the story and its immortal message makes it all worth it in the end. If people stop getting this book, musical, or any other adjacent media recommended to them, assume I’m gone.

Chapter 20 and 21 were simply mortifying. Jaw dropped so many times.

Reading this as assigned reading for A-Level! I at first was a bit reluctant to start it because I was scared that the intense dystopian world building was going to throw me off, but I could not have been more wrong. This is easily the best of our 4 assigned reads thus far. The writing style flows well in my eyes, and the focus on character is very intriguing. There is something so frightening about how quickly I was able to understand the characters conditions: clearly indicative of the state of the world. Eager to see where it goes!
