Murder at the End of the World

Unfortunately, this book was a little underwhelming. It tried to handle many concepts at once but failed to pull everything together. It felt like these concepts were introduced quite suddenly. The dark, horrific atmosphere conjured by these paintings was lacklustre in the end too. I thought it would be scarier, more psychological! Perhaps, I had expected more than what I got. The magic system had potential too but alas!
The characters also made silly decisions that felt rather frustrating. I didn’t quite root for any of the characters, especially the main character in his missions. How sad, I thought I would love this book more. But of course, I would still recommend it if you’re looking for a unique magic system with light horror elements.
