Chapter 1 Check In: I went into this read blind and I'm so glad I did! (given I go into most reads blind, but still) I think if I were to read reviews on this I would have been too intimidated to start. The philosophy is prevalent, however if you have some knowledge of Greek texts/literature you will breeze by. I am thoroughly enjoying the dialogue so far.

I won’t lie... I was not sold at the beginning of this book but I was pleasantly proven wrong! This is my first Chuck Tingle read and I can confirm… it gave me the tingles!

Bury your gays is a trope we all know and to some level dislike. While it is topical in some contexts, it is widely overdone. Tingle did a fantastic job of showing the intricacies of the Hollywood environment; the blatant homophobia that occurs along with the pressure to ignore it.

The clever plotting and character development of this book lead to a twist I was not prepared for. I found the internal monologue of Misha was very accurate to how a lot of queer people feel on their journey but was portrayed in a way that you didn’t feel ashamed for it. This book is a testament to how queer joy should be celebrated, loved, and seen by all; not just the tragic trajectory we are thrown into.

    October Reads

Hello! I'm looking for recs for October reads that aren't part of a series as I'm planning to start a big series in November.

I'm curious what everyone is planning to read this month or recommends!

I like fantasy with a sprinkle of romance mostly but I am open to different things.
