I just finished Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray which is historical fiction about the author Jessie Redmon Fauset! I didn’t know about her before finding this book but after reading the author’s note in the back I decided I’m going to read one of Fausets books next. The one discussed in Harlem Rhapsody is There is Confusion but for now I’m going with Plum Bun. Has anyone else had this journey or a similar one with another book/author? Particularly with historical fiction?

I want to get to the meat and the potatoes of the story, but there is so much science clogging the narrative. While the science is interesting, it's making it feel like a slow read so far, and I'm waiting to get hooked. Does it get better?
It's the chapters from the past that are slow; the present chapters are the most interesting.

A unique and specific read that I will definitely tell people about but not necessarily recommend. I love a book based in Florida but the story fell a little short for me.

Hi friends! I'm planning a hiking trip this September to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and Acadia National Park in Maine. I'm wondering if anyone has any book recs related to these areas.
I personally love historical fiction, but open to non-fiction or just really good books in those settings.
*Bonus we're flying into Boston and will probably spend at least a little bit of time there. I'd happily accept Boston recs too.
Thank you! -Kaylee
