I really really wanted to love this but it was just good. Not great. Not spectacular. Things I think went well: Covering the two viruses that spread rapidly during the 2020 pandemic. The first being Covid-19, the second being loud, violent white supremacy. The fact that those of East Asian descent are lumped together as "Bat-Eaters" regardless of them being Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese etc The nuances between being biracial, ABC, and being born in mainland China and how those of Chinese descent embrace their culture and how they view others of the Chinese diaspora. Now the things I think could have gone better: The hungry ghosts plotline and the serial murder plot seemed very disconnected. While they were happening simultaneously they weren't really connected until the last 10% of the book so it made it hard to stay engaged to the point I questioned a DNF most of the time. Mentioning things in passing that were never brought up again. I ended the book with a lot of unanswered questions particularly surrounding Harvey's past and Cora's mental health issues. Overall I do not regret spending my time reading this as it is important to me to hear other stories surrounding marginalized communities and their experiences but I do think the story itself could have been better.

Every Holly Wilde book I read makes me question why I continue to read them, but they're literally so hysterical I can't help it. This one kinda made me want to bleach my eyes though. Egg puns on point though.

This is not a serious book. It's absolutely unhinged, and filled with terrible penis jokes. It's not particularly well written but I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was hilarious.

I didn't find any of the characters particularly enjoyable and the character development was minimal. I would say I enjoyed Marta's story the most. I just couldn't get myself to really care about Linda and Celia.
