Just as the title says.

I personally feel that I am a slow reader (my speed itself is fine) due to distractions (partly my brain's fault) and life just life-ing.

On average, I feel it takes me close to 2 weeks to finish a good book. 3 weeks if I'm not that into it, but still determined to finish. If I buckle down and put the world on hold as much as I am able, I can finish a book in a week ish.

I just download a book that is 600 pages. Books in the 400-600+ page range, I start booking our wedding venue, because this book and I are in it for the long haul!

No, I don't mean in a day. I mean, in a year. So basically, I've very recently realized that I don't read a lot of books outside of summer breaks and holidays. Throughout the whole year, I do a plethora of rereads but the only time I fulfill my short reading goal (because I only count books that are first time reads) is during the summer and then I have a whole lot of pressure to quickly find new books and then read them. Hence, the "short" reading goal, cuz otherwise I'll never be able to fulfill my annual aim lol. I suddenly realized this after joining Pagebound cuz I'm very active on here hehe and I discovered that I've completed a good part of my reading goal within only the past three months. The reason this is concerning is because I think it puts me at risk of going into a reading slump and I'm probably not able to digest the books I read properly cuz I'm always looking ahead for the next book. I think the Pagebound plan option is pretty helpful but I'm a mood reader so I never know which book I'll read next. Outside of summer, I somehow never get the time to start new books or it takes me ages to complete one if I do. Any tips??

I want to read some dystopian fiction, so give me your recommendations, please. I've already read The Hunger Games and its prequels, 1984, and Brave New World, and I have The Handmaid's Tale, though I haven't read it yet, haha. So please recommend me more dystopian novels, especially those that aren't as well-known but that you believe are 5-star books.

Is anyone else struggling with reading while working on a paper? Every time I read for fun I feel guilty because I could be reading something useful for my research instead - even in my free time 😭I really need to shake this off otherwise I just end up doomscrolling or something.

I didn't know how common it was for people to have ereader devices until I started paying more attention to what was going on in "bookish" spaces. As long as I've been reading ebooks, I've just read them on my phone. Getting a separate device just for reading seems a bit excessive to me, but I can sympathize with the desire to be free of distractions like random notifications or the temptation of social media.

Does anyone else just read on their phone? Am I getting a skewed impression of how most people read ebooks, or are ereaders really that common? What features (other than minimizing distractions) make ereaders better than phones for reading?

I have this weird quirk where I'm extremely hesitant to read books that have been overhyped. Technically that's not the correct word. I meant a book that's insanely popular (even if its perfectly rated). I have no idea why but those books that become wildly famous on booktok or bookstagram or bookinsert social media app just lose their appeal to me, maybe cuz they lack that strange delight that creeps up when you personally discover a book that you know you're disposed to like. Its the major reason I haven't read A Good Girl's Guide to Murder even though I'm quite positive its a well written book. I also automatically not read a book if ive found out a spoiler. i sound so demanding 😭 case in point: The Deathly Hallows. Yes, I hear your gasps. I'm sorry. But I found out too much about it and when I got the paperback I couldn't bring myself to read it 😔
