It was a very good book, as others have mentioned, a great introduction to the series, and also it has good character development, overall really good book.

    It's actually really nice!

It has a really good plot, characters are great and the writing style is really easy to read, the only problem i have is that there is mature content in the book, througth it. so just watch out for that!

    Favourite Magnus Book

after reading this series for the fourth time within two years, I’ve come to the realisation that I can’t choose my favourite book of the series as easily as with other trilogies perhaps.

I do know that Sword of Summer comes last. While it is an amazing first book and truly sets up the rest of the series perfectly, one of my favourite characters is Alex who obviously doesn’t arrive till Hammer of Thor.

I’m currently leaning towards Hammer of Thor being my favourite simply because there’s a big focus on Alex at times and I prefer the overall shenanigans of that book over Ship of the Dead. However, I do love some bits of Ship of the Dead to pieces. For one, of course, anything Alex related, but I’m also partial to the Hearthstone subplot which has its grand finale in this book. As you can see, I’m quite torn and might as well have the second and third book of this series share the throne.

If you’ve continued reading my rambles until here: Do you have a favourite book in the series? Do you have a reason why?

Has minimal actual plot, a lot of unnecessary romance, and characters that are in no way relatable; the only good characters are shunned away. The main character keeps repeating the same mistakes, which can become a bit annoying for the reader. This book was not a good experience

I think this book really describes what it's like to be a transgender person during COVID-19, and the plot is really good. The characters have a few flaws, but the lovely description of the setting makes up for it. Also, the mythology included is slightly described similarly to how they are in The Kane Chronicles! It's a great book for mythology fans.
