I really went into this with one assumption and came out completely lost in the sauce.
I really thought this was going to be a satire about influencers in general and how fake their life really is but this went into more about this single characters personal development rather than a commentary on the trad wife influencer craze which i was hoping for.
I'm not totally mad, but I definitely feel like this read was a fever dream. Also, this book is the poster child for unreliable narrator. Damn.

I'm listening to this on audiobook and, while the narrator is very clear which is a plus, her cadence is so strange. She sounds like a flight attendant telling me how to prepare for a water landing.

I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley!
I actually thought this book was a collection of campground short stories HAHAHA. But it's actually the THIRD BOOK in a series. Honestly though, i didn't really need too much backstory to pick up on what's happened already. There were only a few holes that i filled on my own and, it's crazy, but even though i came in on the third book... i still got SO ATTACHED to the characters! This is a lot to say for the authors writing. I loved Beau, the Dancers, Bryan and his DOGS UGH. The stakes also felt extremely high and i feel like i was really invested in the outcome of this book. Pacing was amazing and i was never bored.
The only issue i had was the repetitiveness of "the land was turning ancient" It was a bit too much. But i understand it's hard to describe this any other way.
Thank you again for the ARC. This was such a fun read :)

OMG. THIS BOOK!! I AM IN LOVE WITH SARAH BETH DURST.
⛵ cozy adventure 💕 kissing-only romance ✨ found family 🍃 self-healing
Sea of Charms is the third book in the universe of The Spellshop. You do not need to read the other books to enjoy this standalone, but there are crossovers that are a fun treat if you have read the previous two. We start off with lone-wolf Marin, who quickly finds camaraderie after saving a sea serpent named Perri. Marin feels guilty about the debt she believes she brought upon her parents from her last relationship, so she sails for passion and revenue, delivering items across a handful of different islands.
One of her more lucrative stops is the capital, which is currently undergoing a revolution. One of her frequent regulars in the capital is a prodigy musician named Daxicend (Dax). Through a series of events, Marin ends up with a crew she never thought she wanted but desperately needed.
This book was so fun! I loved the adventure we had visiting all the new islands we discovered as readers. It was wonderful learning about the unique cultures on each island and seeing how they played into the story. My absolute favorite island was Marin's hometown of Flicker. SO MANY FLYING CATS.
I cried more than I thought I would while reading this. The ending—especially one of Dax's monologues—really hit home for me, making me realize that our passions can change throughout our lives, and we can take hold of those moments to make a change! Thank you so much for such a fantastic read, Sarah!
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for a chance to review!
