This is honestly the absolute definition of a perfect beach read. I completely devoured Poppy and Jackâs banter! As a neurodivergent woman myself, I had no idea this book had that representation going into it, and it was such an amazing surprise. I felt so seen and related to Poppy so muchâthank you for writing her this way, it truly meant the world to me. :)
The chemistry between them was everything. I was literally giggling and kicking my feet the entire time! Poppy has this bright, vibrant energy that never feels overwhelming or eclipses everyone else, which is so rare to find. And Jack? The ultimate "grumpy black cat." He is officially my top book boyfriend right nowâhe was so fascinating to figure out, and honestly, incredibly attractive.
Also, the food descriptions were next-level. The way Grace wrote about their cooking made me want to jump right into the kitchen and try the ingredients myself. Watching Poppy and Jack collaborate on the Fable menu felt so incredibly real that I kept getting lost in their world, matching their excitement step for step.
I know people are comparing this to The Bear, but I donât really see it. The Bear gives me major anxiety and focuses heavily on intense family trauma, whereas Yes, Chef has family trauma... but maybe dialed back a little.. OK A LOT more. It just makes me genuinely happy! :)
