I am at an uncertain point in my life, with no place to stay for more than a few weeks yet, so I figured I could use something cozy. This book is a renowned cozy fantasy catalist, so I have high hopes. From the fewpages I've read, I can already tell I'm gonna enjoy the writing. Fingers crossed🤞

I went into this hoping for a cozy, futuristic style, robot slice of life story. Some parts are just that but overall its a little more complex and heavy especially in the history/setting/lore for being only 150 pgs. Mainly focusing on dealing with post war trauma and racism (robophobia). Not my particular cup of tea and not what I was looking for but it wasn't a bad read. But if your coming to it for a little escapism from our current hellscape, maybe skip it.

While I thought the story and characters were fine, I struggled feeling the writing felt repetitive and a bit lackluster.

I sent a contact form message to Julie Leong to verify. The author responded promptly and firmly-no AI. All my support and appreciation will go to authors who have similar values to my own. Yay!

For me this is easily the weakest of the series… everything i liked about the previous books is gone here, and with a cast of all new characters except for one, it feels super out of place and like it doesn’t even belong with the other two. I’ve been really struggling to get through this even though i’ve been listening on audio… quite disappointed

I was SO excited for this book to release, I think I went in with too-high expectations. It's exactly as marketed: Steel Magnolias meets Practical Magic. It's very sweet, with loads of family, community, and hope. The baking/food metaphors are a bit over-the-top and I struggled to really fall in love with any of the main characters. I also wasn't expecting quite so much plot dedicated to religious manipulation/weaponization, but it ended very well. It also felt a bit too long and slow for what it was. All in all, a fun enough read though.
