I left this book unattended because I couldn’t stomach another devastation. Now I can’t put it down.

I’ve been working my way through books in this quest and it made me realize just how few mermaid books I’ve ever read. Sometimes while I’m listening to audiobooks I’ll digitally “color” on a coloring app just to have something to do with my hands. Today, while listening to They Came from the Ocean, I came across a mermaid picture, and decided to color it!

This got me thinking about mermaid books in general, and I wanted to ask others in this quest why they joined.
Do you read mermaid books in general? Are they a favorite mythical creature for you? Is it that it’s a dark side of mermaids, and they’re usually Disney-esque? Did you just want the shiny badge?
Really curious to hear what drew you to this question!

So I like the show. It was fun to watch and got my attention. I never really really liked these drama shows but it was for a show like that good. BUT…. The book omg I am not even past one chapter and I am already obsessed with it. The writing style and the way things get described it is just 10/10. I love it so far and it just destroyed the show with one chapter.

Not even 20 pages in and the MMC is using AI. Gonna push through, but I’m apprehensive.

I’m only 2% in, but is it just me or does anyone else feel a little lost? 😂 I can follow some of the terminology, but there are quite a few terms that feel very specific to this fictional world, so I’m still trying to figure out what everything means.
I actually had this on pause before and picked it up again after coming across the synopsis and remembering how interesting it sounded. Maybe this initial feeling of being confused and not quite hooked is what made me pause it the first time. 😅 Now I just need the motivation to push through instead of putting it on pause for a second time. 🥹📖
