Came to read a book about a man hating an animal and left with knowledge of a manās struggle against forces greater and more esoteric than he can comprehend.
Also is his name actually Ishmael? If anyone says ācall me ___ā I have to assume thatās not their actual name, itās a name they acquired rather than given. Everything in Moby Dick is deliberate and symbolic so Iām theorizing āIshmaelā is the reinvention of himself after surviving The Horrors and giving him a larger, divine purpose rather than a guy who just somehow survived when everyone else did not.
