Well, I am immediately put off by this intro which is seemingly full of spoilers. Beware - if anyone prefers to go in blind, I would seriously skip this!!!

Uhm, so can someone explain to me please, why there are only four of them in the first year at Babel? Am I missing something? Babel is clearly very important for the whole empire, economy, military etc and obviously very well funded. I thought maybe the entrance criteria are somehow so rigorous that very few people can make it. But there was some comment made about some candidates not making it in despite passing exams... So why...? Why only admit four students in a year?

I hope nobody has done this already 👀

I made a Letterboxd list with all of the movie adaptations of the books in this quest because I wanted to know how many I actually watched. Thought I‘d share in case anyone else here is, like me, about as insufferable about movies as they are about books 🎥

Funnily enough, Letterboxd is telling me I watched 28 of the movies, which is exactly one less than I read books. A complete coincidence, considering I a) definitely don’t have every movie I ever watched logged and b) most of them aren’t even ones where I read the book. I‘ll still call this double platinum 🙂‍↕️

My system for selecting movies was essentially copying the book title into Letterboxd and clicking on the first result. If there are any mistakes or the adaptation is not The One Everyone Has Watched, let me know!

I've already read it, but decided to listen to the audiobook, and WHY ARE SHANE'S PARENTS SOUTHERN?!! His dad sounds like he's from Texas and his mom, idek what she sounds like. It's so distracting, and I'm so confused rn, lol
