"I was not a selfish child and, understanding the nature of genius, would have happily bowed to another's talent, but not to three eggs covered in cotton wool, entitled 'Easter Bunnies'."
This is one of the funniest books I've ever read!

âThere was something nice about being forced to be done with everything by sunset, to be excused from life. It was like a teachers note from the ultimate authority.â
Beautifully said. Same feeling as being on public transportation. Youâre powerless in the best way possible, youâre free from having to do anything but wait.

Loved the themes this book explored but some of the narrative choices in here truly made my mind melt.

The spaniels being "rescued" by the helicopter was the most I've laughed at a book in a while

There were so many things I loved about this book! The themes of generational trauma and grief and how they manifested were very well done. I also loved seeing Bellatine and Isaacâs character interactions, and I loved the backstories of Baba Yaga and the Longshadow Man. The ending also did stick the landing - huzzah!
However, this book was too long and I did skim portions of the second half. It suffered a bit from having too many characters and competing plot lines. Still, I largely enjoyed this book and am excited to read anything GennaRose Nethercott puts out!
