Thank you NetGalley & Del Rey for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
Innamorata by Ava Reid reminded me exactly why sheâs one of my favourite authors. Her writing is just so stunning and atmospheric, and she really knows how to pull you into a story. That being said, this was definitely much darker and more horror-leaning than I expected (which is partially on me, but also it is being shelved as romance on Goodreads), and it deals with a lot of heavy, potentially triggering themes that are worth being aware of going in. The tone is intense and unsettling in a way thatâs very well done, but it did make it a harder read for me personally. I still think the story itself is incredibly compelling and beautifully written, and it really showcases how strong Ava Reid is as a storyteller, Iâm just not sure yet if Iâll continue with the series because some of the thematic content is just something I personally struggle to read. Overall, a gorgeous, haunting read, just know what youâre getting into.
