I read this as part of a Hunger Games book club with my friends, and I had ZERO interest in this book at all. I put it off until the last minute and, miraculously, I ate this book up. Such a breath of fresh air after slogging through Mockingjay. Suzanne Collins does a really good job of making Snow *just* likeable enough to follow as a character without trying to make this his redemption arc. I hated his ass the entire time, and it was a blast to read! It *is* a bit long, honestly if she'd cut Part 3 down by a chapter or two, I wouldn't complain. I mostly liked Songbirds for the characters around Snow rather than Snow himself. Sejanus is such a refreshing point of view, as impulsive as he is. Even Lucy Gray is a really interesting character, because you never really know what she's thinking (I think Snow's just too obtuse to catch on...). Snow has his moments, though. There are quite a few things he says and does that gave me chills (good and bad). He's such an aura farmer, it's so funny.

maybe it’s partially because i hated mocking jay, so reading anything else would be great in comparison, but im pleasantly surprised by how good of a read this has been so far

Why exactly does Collins feel the need to name drop the character every third sentence like we don't know who tf the book is about? I'm only 5 chapters deep and I swear I have read "Coriolanus" at least 100 times. I GET IT. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Oh I miss Tatiana Maslany's narration 😭 the narrator for this book is not bad, I just really enjoyed Tatiana's for the first 3 books.
