Yeah this is one of those situations where the second book is better than the first. I mean this man literally researched which fonts are easier for people with dyslexia to read and then made that his company font requirement are you kidding me? That’s so romantic. Declan was a bit of an ass but I saw through his hard shell immediately and had so much fun reading his & Iris’ story. Iris was also a perfect FMC who could never do wrong in my eyes. Definitely need to read book three immediately.

I ate it up obviously but I would’ve loved more interactions between Alice & Luka post breaking free. I liked Theo & Jade’s story a little bit more for that reason. The writing in these books is a little addictive and the cheesiness works so well. I am enjoying this ongoing plot line and can’t wait to see where Verakko’s story takes us.

Whether you love to hate or hate to love 'em, these literary bad girls are anything but well-behaved. *Disclaimer: we do not literally support the illegal and oft cruel behavior of these protagonists (usually); we support the authors bold enough to write them (always).

Creepy crawling vines, sentient mushrooms, or a killer forest; no matter what shape they take, plants and fungi play a main part in these horror novels.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about the ending. I didn’t see the big reveal coming, which did pleasantly surprise me. It’s a very interesting story with complex characters and a haunting setting. Bear’s story is so sad but I kind of feel like this book was more about Bear than it was Barbara, like she’s a background character in her own story not just her family. Maybe that’s intentional but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The story is also just a bit too long in my opinion with too many characters to keep track of, which kind of made it hard for me to keep the multiple story lines straight. Overall not a bad read but didn’t blow me away.
