  • Re-reading childhood favs

Have you reread any of your childhood favorites and if so, how did they hold up?

I’m thinking of rereading some of my middle school favorite books mainly the The Hunger Games and Divergent, possibly Warrior Cats. I’m wondering if you’ve done the same and if so which books? I’d love to hear how you opinions changed or stayed the same from childhood you!

Ahhhh my library book on Libby is due in two days and I am so close to finishing but I go back to work tomorrow (I'm a teacher) and will have significantly less time to read 😭 I will probably end up finishing it tomorrow during/after dinner, but I always get nervous when the due date gets so close with books on Libby 😅

🎧/ I really liked this very dark, dreary, depressing read. I definitely don't think this book is for everybody due to some of content. I love an unlikeable fmc, so this was great. I think the voice actor for the audiobook does a great job!

🎧/ In the end, I enjoyed this book. It did take until ~30-35% for me to actually be interested in the story, so that lowered my overall rating. Despite feeling like I was trudging through the book for most of it, there were a lot of elements that I really enjoyed.I really enjoyed Phosyne and Voyne's perspectives, and I enjoyed Treila's in the second half of the book. I looooved the aesthetic of the horror and the dread and confusion it created. The magic system was very interested to me and I wanted to learn more about it, but the mystery of it added to the story. This was a great audiobook, and I am glad I finished it! Due to the slow pacing at the beginning, I don't know if I would have finished this if reading it physically (which would be a shame because I really do love the second half!). This has more to do with me as a reader than the quality of the book. I am glad I went with the audiobook so I finished it :)

  • Does anyone else prefer large print physical books?

A few years ago, my eye doctor suggested I read large print books when I can to help with eye strain. It was only for a few months as we figured out what kind of glasses worked based for my extremely poor vision (4 years between visits isn't recommended anymore, lol). However, I found that I liked the format better, especially since the font is usually standard across all books. I'm grateful that my library and the overall state system buys large print versions of new releases. The patrons at the library I manage don't mind reading large print, either, which frees up money for other books since we don't need two different copies!
