there’s been a couple of tedious moments but overall i’m enjoying this! i literally couldn’t stop reading, was absolutely at the edge of my seat to find out what was going to happen next at the diner scene! i definitely feel more pulled into and intrigued to continue at this point of the book

I know classics are classics for a reason, but is there a classic book that everyone loves and that is considered this huge masterpiece, but you just couldn't get through it? It's happened to me a few times. I struggled with the Lord of the Rings trilogy for years before I was able to read it and enjoy it. I think I was too young when I first tried to. I still haven't been able to finish Jane Austen's Emma or F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. I don't know why, and I've tried many times for years. I've read other Austen books, but I struggle with Emma for some reason. I still want to try again with these books, maybe I just have to be in the right space for them to click with me haha.

Personally, I really enjoy dual POV when it’s a love story, it adds so much to the yearning and tension. If the main POV is from the female side, I especially love getting those little glimpses into the male perspective. That said, when a book goes beyond two POVs, it often feels overwhelming to me. I haven’t seen it done well very often, sometimes it’s characters I don’t really care about, or perspectives that don’t feel necessary to the story. Curious how you all feel about this - do you prefer one perspective, dual, or a whole cast of voices? Bonus points if you can share a book where the number of POVs completely ruined the reading experience.

Just as the title says. I personally feel that I am a slow reader (my speed itself is fine) due to distractions (partly my brain's fault) and life just life-ing. On average, I feel it takes me close to 2 weeks to finish a good book. 3 weeks if I'm not that into it, but still determined to finish. If I buckle down and put the world on hold as much as I am able, I can finish a book in a week ish. I just download a book that is 600 pages. Books in the 400-600+ page range, I start booking our wedding venue, because this book and I are in it for the long haul!

Could you stop yourself from adding more books to your TBR for a specified amount of time? Maybe I could go a month without, if I avoid reading reviews? Or limit myself to adding one book a month and be really picky about it? I just have this existential dread about not being able to finish my list before I die and I feel like the only way I'd be able to get through it is to stop adding! 🥲

Hey everyone! As we dive into a new month, I thought it would be a great time to check in on our reading journeys! Whether you’re a voracious reader, in a reading slump (like me) or just picking up the habit, I’d love to hear about your progress. I just finished my first book of August yesterday—"The Naturals" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes! It was such a thrilling read, and I couldn't put it down. Now, I’m currently reading "Collide" by Bal Khabra, and I'm enjoying it so far. I wanted to ask everyone on their reading progress and what you're currently reading this month and to-be-read books for this month! I think it it would be cool if some of us have the same books lined up in our August tbr, and of course I'm looking for interesting reads/recommendations in your August reads. Whether it’s a highly anticipated release or a hidden gem you've been meaning to read Feel free to drop your thoughts! Let’s inspire each other and keep the reading momentum going. Happy reading! 📖✨

Have ever returned a book back to the store because the cover was HIDEOUS? I have. The book itself is fun and I really enjoyed but every time I closed it... So I returned it and I bought it as an ebook.

I was just wondering how long yall have been reading? And what got you into it? I can't remember fully but I'm pretty sure I've been reading all my life. It's just been one of those comforts in my life that's always been there <33

what’s been the best book you’ve read this year, so far? i love it when a book sneaks up on you and unexpectedly - any surprises? my current top two are blood over bright haven (ml wang) and masters of death (olivie blake). when starting blood over bright haven i was pretty confident i would like it, but masters of death was a complete surprise!

I've realized I've accumulated a bunch of 'bookish' habits now that I've started reading more. And I'm not talking about actually reading related habits, like annotating or anything I started collecting bookmarks unconsciously. Just started seeing more and more pretty ones and I was like, I need this! So now every book that I start has a matching bookmark (as close as I can get the match at least). My favorite one is a string bookmark from yarn, at the top it has the head of a little sloth with glasses (like me!). Now it's in my copy of a man called Ove Now I always notice bookstores or small book marketplaces on the street. I peer at the copies they have, and if its under 5 Euro deals I make sure to evaluate each one When I'm feeling a little less than happy and merry, or when I have breaks in my schedule and I'm downtown, I browse bookstores. I don't even buy anything, it just makes me feel calmer to exist in a bookstore for a while and check out books Bonus! If I don't like the smell of the paper I don't buy the book. For books that I'm not entirely sold on, or popular ones who are published under multiple publishing companies, I just stand there smelling the pages bfr making my final decision

damn this book gets hard to put down around the half way point, i’m both disgusted by what i’m reading and completely intrigued as to what happens next. a very difficult read, and daunting by the amount of words per page. but something about the biography-ness of the writing & the intensity of the subject makes it so quick to read

Where I live there are very few bookstores, well really there are no bookstores as such, they are just stationery stores and they have a wall full of books, I miss going to the city and getting lost in a huge bookstore.
