incredible collection! a very good choice for the quest.
i loved the stories so much. such beautiful characters and thoughtful storytelling, and especially in the first three stories, i became so so attached to the characters, each with distinct, haunting voices. truly these stories mean everything to me. i liked the author's note too!
i think most of my issues would have been solved by reading tandem or with my eyes instead of through the audiobook. this was just my experience!
i skipped a few stories narrated by neil shah because the audiobook during those stories was truly not working for me, and 90% of the stories narrated by nikki massoud were lovely and i enjoyed them very much for the most part. but the very last story had really disappointing pronunciation quality, i felt so distracted by the pronunciation of words like the yamuna river, and some names, and places. it also felt very forced and out of place as a story compared to the others. i think if it was in a different order, perhaps placed at the beginning or as the very first one in the collection, it would have worked to ease us into the author's style! it felt like it fell short as an ending story.
i really enjoyed the first few stories and i could tell how much love the author put into them. i also thought it was beautiful, how the author was able to bring a wide cast of characters together through atmosphere and themes. i'm glad i picked this one up!
most of all, i am super happy to see a telugu (as far as i know) author's book being praised and read widely in the public sphere! so so cool! :)))
so perfect so weird so cute so gay so funny so different than anything iโve seen and i realized my copy is a signed copy when i finished! iโm a very happy raindrop atm.

i had a really special moment and wanted to share :) this community helped me figure out my pronouns and feel brave enough to share them actively on my profile! so many of you gorgeous beautiful humans have the coolest bios that help me see and love you through your own eyes. and it made me feel like i want others to understand me through my own eyes too. and that now also includes my pronouns :)
i feel so grateful and happy to share that my pronouns are them/ฤme/ella, bringing together the three languages and cultures that are my homes: english, telugu, and spanish. i didnโt know i could have multicultural pronouns but iโm learning something new about myself through this community every day, because of each of u who made me feel welcome to be me! throughout this journey, i have kept thinking about the book genderqueer, and how author maia kobabe (e/em/eir) talks about how it feels to find the pronouns that feel like home. i feel at home now ๐ป๐ง๏ธโจ๐ค
edit: love you all thank you for the kindness and warmth : ) i feel overwhelmed (in such a good way) with support and will take some time to respond individually but trust i have been rereading each and every single one of your words over and over with the biggest smile ever smilt ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ

today i got to create a mini gift economy with my friend, who gave me beets, kohlrabi, and watermelon radish from her farm's overflow. last night my family and i cooked homemade food using the beets and today i got to give the food to my friend and her partner! it made me so happy to receive the freshly harvested vegetables from someone i know, get to appreciate their team's hard work, and create something to give back to them. so so cool :)))
Where I live, weโve accumulated almost half a foot of rain in the last 48hrs (wow and also NEEDED). Whatโs a book youโve read that just feels like a rainy day?๐ง๏ธ๐ญ
