I like it so far BUT... Ali Hazelwood always has long chapters in her books. That makes it hard for me to get into them sometimes 😶🌫️

Hi! I've recently finished reading Ignite Me and I was wondering if the last three books are worth it. I saw that they came out like 4 years after Ignite Me was published, and that the series was supposed to be just the first three. Honestly the series has not really been what I was expecting, too muck tt hype I think. I don't want to get bored.

I've been reading contemporary romance and thrillers a lot.. so I need a fantasy romance series to be obsessed with!!! So please recommend completed series with max 2 or 3 books

I'll go first. I really really really despise bad worldbuilding. Fourth Wing is the best example of this. The worldbuilding could have been so amazing if the author just thought it out more. But she didn't. So it really sucks. And that's what I mean. When authors don't fully think of the simple questions. Because if I can think for like a few seconds and the thing unravels, you didn't do a good job at all. This also applies to plot points. Because in Fourth Wing, a rebel town was supposedly destroyed but apparently nobody in that goddamn empire even checked the area so they rebuilt the town. How tf does that make sense? How tf would an empire just never check up on that place to see if it's destroyed? Cuz apparently nobody knew they rebuilt. How????? They have dragons. Someone should have flew over that area??? There is no fucking way. It should be common knowledge that they are still around.

in a good way, like you couldn't get it out of your head for a while because it was so engrossing mine have been fiction: a little life (dont like that book very much now but omg it sucked me in) + revolution (when i was a teen!) non fiction: joe saccos graphic novels on palestine (and like in a heartaching way) non fiction

I try to keep myself to two these days - usually one fiction, one nonfiction - but I used to read 3-4 at a time. I realised though that this seemed to make me more likely to fall into a reading slump (idk why!!) so I’ve tried to be stricter with myself recently. It can be hard as a mood reader!! Right now I’m staring at a third book and wondering if I should start it or not…

not just "i really liked this character" but something deeper, like the author somehow had access to your inner monologue and turned it into a sentence. for me, that kind of connection doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I really carry that book with me. i’d love to know what book made you feel seen? maybe it was a character, a moment, or even just the way the author thinks ; their voice or thoughts felt so familiar it was like they have been living in your head.

I don't do it often but sometimes I'll find myself starting a new book immediately after finishing another. I'm talking finish the last page of one book, pop it on the bookshelf, pick up a new one and get going no breaks in between. It can be a book from the same series or just a completely fresh start (e.g., I just finished book #1 of The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman and immediately picked up Wool by Hugh Howey). However, I've found if I don't give myself a teeny break, I feel like I'm still catching my breath from the previous book and can't settle into the new one as quickly. I don't really have a set rule on this, but I think at least a day or a good night's sleep between books lets me process the read and clear my mind for the next. I'm curious to see what other people's reading habits are and what works for them!
