What a beautiful story! I listened to the entire book in my transit to and from work. I was definitely tearing up a lot so I don’t recommend this before work lol great depiction of the complexities of grief. I love the local bookstore piece and how we went along Tilly’s journey of adventures and new friendships. Overall, beautiful read.

What a solid story line, set of characters, and magic system. Really enjoyed reading this book, can’t wait for the next one.

Cute writing and small town romance. I liked how honest he was to her about what he needs to work through on his own. Indy is a huge life change for him and I kinda wanted more of her story. It was there but nothing full force so it didn’t have the impact it could have had. Overall, still cute story.

The concept was different with the whole reality tv show plot. I wouldn’t say this is an enemies to lovers at all, actually friends to lovers in my opinion. The spicy scenes were hot! But the plot was alright. I wish there was more banter between the brother and Emmett once he knew they were together. Overall, quick read. Not something I would recommend necessarily.

Aprils Bookclub pick!

I enjoyed this story SO much. I listened to it and the narration is perfect. What a heartfelt story. It made me tear up and I loved their love story as well. Beautifully written.

It felt like forever until I started to enjoy the story. I don’t read many memoirs but this one was picked for my bookclub. I was never a big iCarly fan so I didn’t feel very invested in her story. However, I did listen to it since she is the one narrating her own story. The chapters were short since they were small retelling of her memories. You could tell she carefully picked certain life stories to share that were not explicitly known to her as abuse but can be viewed appropriately as such as the reader or outsider looking in.

My main critique for why I just couldn’t connect with her story or just overall enjoy listening to it was this- she was inconsistently retelling her stories in various ways. She would share them as if she was still in the mental state of when she was 11 or 16. But then the next chapter or story, she would weave in this self awareness of her mental health issues but it didn’t make sense since in that moment in time, she was unaware of what it was. Does that make sense? It’s like she’s using therapy words in her flashback when she didn’t go to therapy yet so it confused me.

OVERALL- glad she found an outlet which appears to be writing instead of acting. In the end, who gives a shit what I think. This is her life story and it’s not even finished yet. I’m so used to reading fiction so it’s an odd thing to think about rating a persons life. I am just not a memoir reader, it just not a category I enjoy reading.

I just finished Ryder by Jessica Peterson and this is like the complete opposite of that book. I prefer when the man is completely down bad for the girl and this was it. He had too much southern manners but cute story. Love the bad ass feminine energy. Cute story
