Current predictions - xaden is gonna be the enemies to lovers love interest of course, and there will probably be a triangle with dain who’s gonna be the sensible choice. Violet will somehow get the biggest baddest dragon cos she’s special and probably got some sort of deep rooted powers idk. Mira is gonna die at some point. I’ll come back here when I’m finished

I liked the start of the book a lot. A good, interesting premise as we follow the main protagonist (a woman for once!) through the first day of the apocalypse. It was fast paced, intriguing. However, after about halfway through the book I lost interest a bit. I couldn’t follow the descriptions very well and wasn’t sure where the plot was going. Overall, not bad, but not amazing

Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn’t a book as thought provoking, sweet and exciting as this, all at the same time. I’m not sure if I’d class this as dystopian, a horror or a romance. But it worked perfectly as all three. R was a brilliant main protagonist and you root for him from the very start. The dark setting of the book was made a little lighter by the moments of humour, and I don’t think there was much actual horror until the end. Still, it was exciting, fast paced, really quite sweet, and a little sad too. Usually I’m not a fan of overly ambiguous endings but this one fit pretty well for me. Very very good

A pretty good thriller. I enjoyed the premise and the dual timelines. The ending wasn’t quite up to standards and felt a little bit rushed, but I still enjoyed it. Lots of tension and a good pace, with a few twists. Overall pretty decent

I was a little overwhelmed starting this book with the three timelines all going on at once, each of them 50 years apart. We are also thrown in quickly at the deep end, the book starting immediately at the murder scene. However, the short chapters really help to keep the story moving quickly and it’s easy to flit between perspectives. The plot itself was very good, but I don’t think it ever quite reached its full potential. I just felt like there could have been a little more. The same with the characters - the only woman who felt fully fleshed out was Pauline. Still, I enjoyed the book a lot, and it had me hooked. Certainly a good read

A fairly average domestic thriller. Slow going until the last third when a LOT happens at once. The overarching theme is that men are idiots. Didn’t like the mistakes about The Lion King - if you’re going to reference a film, a classic film at that, at least spell the characters’ names right.
