This book was beautifully written, and had many moments where as a Latina, I really saw myself (particularly in Raquel's character). Reading this book was like seeing a beautiful tapestry being constructed corner by corner, piece by piece, and then at the end being able to step back and see how everything weaves together to tell one story on being true to yourself, honoring your self and your culture, recognizing self worth, and recognizing the structures that exist that fight against you every day. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Xochitl Gonzalez is so talented! This book does such a beautiful job of telling three separate stories but connecting all of them so beautifully not just by having the characters eventually interact with one another (not directly interact event, but creatively interact with one another in a way that maybe they dont meet but we as readers have them meet in our minds), but also by showing similar tropes and patterns but having characters experience it across different time periods/settings/etc. My least favorite chapters were Jack's. Anytime I read his chapters I wanted to skip pages because I found him R E P U L S I V E. I guess that was the point though. Anita and Raquel are BEAUTIFULLY written characters. You root for them the whole time, and if you are like me, you see elements of yourself in them at times. I especially resonated with Raquel and also felt for Raquel. I dont want to give any spoilers, but I just want to say, please try this book out. It may not captivate you at first and I blame the Jack content for that lol, but by the end you step back and realize you have been part of watching a beautiful web be weaved.

I am really enjoying this book so far. I read Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez a few years ago and it quickly has become one of my favorite books ever, so I was eager to start reading this one. I did not read the blurb so I'm going into it without any info, but 185 pages in and I can't put this book down. The two stories of Raquel and Anita side by side make this such a fun read and I can't wait to see how they connect. Raquel's experience at a PWI is so relatable. Especially the way she interacts with her campus and the opportunities afforded to her vs how she sees her privileged counterparts act. There is one scene that happened already that felt exactly like what happens when you get attacked by ignorance and privilege, and I am grateful Gonzalez included that scene that is so aggravating to read about but so accurate. More to come here!

This brought me right back to my wattpad days!! I wish I would have read this as a middle schooler/early high schooler because I would've been obsessed. Reading it now as an adult, it filled me with a nostalgia for a YA book that I did not know I was missing. The characters are just okay, and the storylines are simple. But for a quick beach read, and in anticipation of the final season...this was PERFECT.

This book is so uniquely written. This is yet another incredible book by TJR. I still prefer Malibu Rising and Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (in that order) to this book, but I devoured this book in 2 days. If you love music, 70s culture, romance, plot twists, and really unique writing styles...I would highly recommend. It's seriously such a cool book. That's the best word for it..."cool".

This was my first Emily Henry book and I enjoyed it. Her writing for this book made me feel like I was part of the character's friend group, and the summer vibes were not overbearing they were the perfect amount. I was surprised (in a good way!) by the ending of this book. For a minute there I did not know where things were going. This book has many "big reveal" elements at the very end, so you spend most of the time confused about what is going on (in a good way!) in each character's lives and what the dynamics are and why the dynamic seem different...and then at the end everything makes sense and you share in the relief the characters feel while also feeling it yourself. I would recommend this book.
