I really enjoyed the book, yes there are plotholes. I have a tendency to ignore those when I get into the overall story, which I did. I also tend to slap a fantasy bandaid on things when they dont make sense in a fantasy story... I dont need everything to make sense there's magic. But if you are going to get hung up on them, this probably isnt the story for you. Its super cute and interesting. There is some predictability and "tropeyness", for lack of a better word. I feel like its a good book to turn off my brain and just binge, I love the story elements, and I can presume as Aster's career continues, the writing will improve. The younger style works better in Emblem Island ,which I enjoyed, than it does here. I like the characters and they have alot of room for complexity, and building. The world and concept is still incredibly interesting to me and I love Isla... The ending has both elements of suprise and predictability. I didn't like that the ending love story felt rushed. I am going to continue reading the book so overall it leans more towards the better side, and I had a great time reading it.

New user - love the shelf options, and especially the DNF and Paused. I imported my data so have a bunch on my TBR…would love to hear how people differentiate TBR/Interested to themselves! Or if they have any custom shelves they are particularly proud of :)
