This book is a fun, feel-good read that pulls you straight into Riley’s head. She’s stubborn in the best way, always pushing toward what she wants, and that makes her journey easy to root for. Her dynamic with Nathan is adorable, annoying at first, but slowly turns into something genuinely sweet. The plot stays light but meaningful, focusing on both of them chasing their own goals without slipping into anything cheesy.
The pacing works well overall, with conflicts that feel natural, especially when they drift apart and find their way back, it reads like something that could easily happen in real life.
The ending lands nicely, wrapping things up without feeling forced. Overall, it’s a sweet, entertaining YA romance that’s easy to enjoy. It’s not heavy, but it leaves a warm feeling by the end. For me, it’s a charming read I’d still recommend if you’re in the mood for something light, cute, and genuinely fun.

The book sells itself as a fake-dating romance, but the fake dating barely exists. There’s no tension, no fun moments, no “almost caught” scenes, nothing. They’re already into each other from the start, so the whole pretend relationship has zero impact. It should’ve had banter or awkward chemistry to build things up, but it never lands. The story just moves without any real buildup.
The ex-related conflict could’ve been solid, but the execution falls flat. The pacing is fast in a rushed way, like it’s sprinting toward the ending. The part about the kid could’ve hit emotionally, but the guy’s childish reaction kills the moment. And the ending feels forced, with a resolution that comes out of nowhere.
Bottom line: good concept, weak delivery. The fake dating doesn’t feel like fake dating, the emotions stay shallow, and nothing sticks. Easy to skip if you’re looking for a romance that actually hits.
