Starting this series in my early twenties for the first time and eating up every crumb. I can only imagine how much I would have LOVED to read this as a kiddo. Something tells me Percy will heal my inner child as I continue đ„čđ

The whole exchange between Abdullah and the carpet seller reminds me of how Japanese professional interactions or conversations go: very deferential, polite, apologetic, (fake-ish) humble⊠you get the drift. (I work parttime in a Japanese government office so I am IMMERSED in this kind of languageđ )
So when I read this whole interaction I laughed out loud at the familiarity đ

Will you dnf a book when youâre past 50â60%? Iâm having a hard time doing that, especially when itâs a big book. And also, all that reading wonât go toward your yearly reading challenge đ€đ„Čđ
Iâm a slow reader, so when Iâm in a reading slump month and I have a few books I want to dnf in a month (both past 50%) it just feels like I read nothing at all that month when I look at my stats..đ

The bad thing about having watched the movie before reading the book is that I am now very confused while reading. I am going to have to read this again⊠gladlyđ đ„ł

If youâve watched the movie before reading this, you need to read it twice. The first time to attempt to align the movie and book in your head but fail soectacularly because theyâre so different, and the second to enjoy it as a classic on its own.
Sidenote: Iâm writing this after my first reading after watching the movie and I have so many questions!!!đ
