I loved it 😭. So so beautiful. I really think if you liked Lemony Snicket as a child, you’ll like this book. Very cathartic to read as someone who is very distantly part of the Ukrainian diaspora. Loved the meta elements. Made me almost cry about snails in the first 30 pages. Loved how self aware it was. Loved how it showed the effect of many people’s ignorant points of view on the war. Would recommend.

Love! Very inspiring. Read the first half in a day. I’m already excited to implement a lot of what I learned/ was reminded of. I will say, though, it has a lot of largely memoir-y sections. After the first couple of chapters, I was expecting it to get a bit more technical and get into what hospitality can look like for people in all different situations. It seemed more like “this is what has worked for me and how I do it and why. You should do it too.” So, kind of like a memoir that got infused with philosophy and theological principles. I wish it was more a book about Christian living with autobiographical parts. That may seem like the same thing, I just think the balance was off. I’m having to do more creative thinking than I’d like to figure out how to implement some of these ideas in my own life.
