I loved this reading as a small sunday relaxed vibe. Madeline is hilarious, the book is filled with satire and parodies and heavy joking (which may not be everyones vibe). The quirkiness of the first 100 pages is very enjoyable and I think diminished throughout the second and third thirds of the book, which is a very sensible decision from the writing perspective.

The story felt rushed in the end, I would call it very unbelievable but, the writing style and the characters are so absurd that I don't even mind it. Nothing in this book needs to make sense tbh. It sort of feels like those fever dreams and thoughts that we get (?) if that makes sense.

There is big controversy around this book regarding t3rrorÂĄsm and abl3ism. I will say I expected this while reading, and it didn't seem as "propagandist" or "diacriminatory" as it was portrayed to me. While it is important to keep in mind and have it present while reading, it is also important to discern it with our own criteria, and I don't see eye to eye with making such a controversy on this book. I think the book is filled with satire and parody and hyperbolizing on absurdities and extremist movements overall. I feel like the internet has fixated on some element of the story very incessantly, while others have been selectively ignored. In my opinion, the author uses these absurdities and maximizes them exponentially, simply because everyone in this book is an a55hole and takes very questionable decisions.

I am so excited to start this! I had been wanting to get my hands on it for months, and now that my intimate bestie Dua Lipa set it for her book club (Aug2026), I figured it's time for it. I've been reading some of the posts around and they are making me eaaager!

Running to get my copy from my bag rn (by the way, the edition with the sheep on the cover is so nice đŸđŸ«€).

Reading this has done 2 (maybe sort of contradicting?) things to me:

    1. It has made me admire Malala and her work even more, and
    2. It has made me see her as one of the girls

This memoir is so refreshing and humanizing! I literally felt like having coffee with a close friend and catching up. Malala definitely breaks the stereotype of a Nobel-Prize-winning activist, and she shows a deeply human, multi-faceted reality that we probably wouldn't have stopped to think of.

Definitely recommended for a lighter reading if you have followed Malala's career and work. đŸ«€
