The Yellow Wallpaper - 5 ⭐️ Oh the irony of me saying I’m taking a mental health break AND PICK THIS. 💀💀 This is a story from 1890s where we follow a woman who seems to be suffering from postpartum depression or could be just depression (cause I’m not that smart to figure out yet) She and her husband go to this AIRBNB where there’s this ugly yellow wallpaper that seems to trigger her. GOSH HOW BRILLIANT THIS BOOK WAS in its symbolism and representation of gender roles and oppression back then!! It definitely infuriated me that her spouse just dismissed her feelings and thoughts cause of the stigma that women are not capable of having their own thoughts like BRUH DPMO. I loved how the yellow paper is slowly seen like as the mirror to the FMC mental health and how that just escalated till the end. Also a very short story that you can finish in an hour or so. Wow.

A Thriller of Two Halves
"Finally crossed A Twist of Fate by Se-Ah Jang off my overdue TBR list! The verdict? It's a debut that left me utterly conflicted. The good? That stunning cover and synopsis hooked me instantly. The first half? A masterpiece of lies and luxuries, easily a 4-star read. Se-Ah Jang is a master manipulator; the twists were wild and had me genuinely yelling at the page!
The bad? The thriller snob in me crashed hard during the second half. It veered into a direction that felt rushed, poorly executed, and frankly, incoherent. The ending didn't land at all. Ultimately, I was invested, but the messy execution of the final act dropped it to a painful 3/5 stars. I just wanted more polish!
Who should read it? Despite my mixed feelings, I do recommend this book to readers who enjoy having their minds altered and love a good mind game. Just be aware: this book handles heavy topics and is a lot to process. I'll keep an open mind for this author's future work, hoping to shed my inner thriller snob."

A Twist of Fate - 3⭐️ This is translated literature of a Korean thriller where we follow two women and they are strangers who meet on the train and one of them have to take the other’s identity. I felt the first half to be very promising but then it spiralled out of logic towards the end. A twisty story with alot of mentions of “shaking hands” 😭😭😭

Dramatic battles, tense political intrigue, unique world building...and is that maybe some romance I'm sensing? These books are not Romantasy but focus primarily on the SFF elements. Romance is a subplot and may not appear until later in the series, but when it does, you won't be disappointed.
