3.5 needed this book when i was 15 and in my christian girl autumn era getting rage-baited by meninist accounts on insta. you could tell that this book is for people who are like what is a woman, and i appreciated the acknowledgment that women (often white women) can subconsciously be perpetuating sexism and homophobia and the patriarchy etc. etc. but also you can tell that this book is dated, and i don’t feel that it holds up to the current climate

genuinely is the author okay?
overall, does this book have the best writing or tropes? no, not really. nevertheless, i really enjoyed it. it was intense and engaging. was it corny at times? for sure. it is really nice to read a fantasy romantasy or whatever that actually has strong female leads. the women in this book were smart, strong, and ruthless. also? like 30. please can we be done with the 4’ 11” 100 lbs 20 year old warrior princesses, and can we have more Shadera’s pleeeeeaase.
