Idk maybe I'm just not a fantasy girly? I struggle to read about fantasy worlds without trying to compare to the real world and it's politics. The links between this story and the Russian revolution are too obvious and I'm not really here for the Americanised extreme anti communist agenda.

Holy fucking shit I'm sobbing 😭😭😭 I don't even know what to write without giving everything away but this book so perfectly uses humour while making you question society's understanding of morality, sanity, physical beauty and gender expectations. At the end, you cry...but then there's another chapter and you cry some more...then another and another and it's all such a mess of tears and pain 😭😭😭
I met Sally Hepworth at a signing for Mad Mabel last year and reallyreallyreally wish I had have read it before I'd met her so I could explain how much I felt reading this. It's not the stories you remember, it's how they made you feel
