Slow to start, but I was also in a bit of a slump reading this so that could’ve been a me issue. A cute historical romance. I wish there had been a little more pirate shenanigans though. Looking forward to rest of the books in this series.

A nice change of pace from previous romances I’ve read. A little bit of crass and raunchiness is just what I needed. Was a little disappointed in the beginning with the anti-bush sentiment, but can’t have it all. I did end up reading some reviews after the first chapter because I was curious how the doctor patient dynamic was received and it was about what I expected. That part didn’t bother me, but I can understand why it would be a line for others. Overall, this had a nice balance handling serious issues and bringing in some levity. I laughed. I teared up. Had a good time.

I went into this one with low expectations. I’m not a fan of age gap or student teacher romances, but I’ve loved all of Rachel’s other adult romances so I figured maybe she could make it work. She did. I didn’t cringe or feel uncomfortable or annoyed. This felt more slice of life than I was expecting. Could see the parallels to Business or Pleasure (my personal favorite of Rachel’s). I don’t think this suffered from a lack of a 3rd act breakup, but there was something missing. More build up? More chemistry? Maybe some angst? I’m not sure. It’s still a cute romance with low stakes. Would make for a good palate cleanser.

Cute…but man, did it go all over the place. Sometimes 11 hours is not enough for a romance and other times, it’s too much. I think in this case, it’s the latter. I’m a little shocked this author is the same author who wrote PS I Hate You, Love In Plane Sight, Fire Magic and Ice Cream, etc. I mean it has her usual story beats, but I was expecting it to be more streamlined? Tighter plot? I don’t know. It was fun in the first half and kind of lost me in the end. One of those the premise was more interesting than the execution.

Much better. Romances with a side a grief still hit the spot. 😌 I selfishly wanted more with these characters. Loved how all the topics were handled — grief, friendship, romance, etc. The bits of humor throughout were a welcomed relief to the heavier stuff. Loved Damnit. I wasn’t originally going to rate this so high, but ugh, the ending got me in the feels.

After Ashley’s last two books ended up being massive flops, I feared she was a bit of a one hit wonder for me. I went into this one with my expectations on the floor to hopefully avoid anymore disappointments. Ashley loves to describe her MMCs eyes. Goodness. Thankfully it wasn’t as repetitive or annoying as those minty green eyes in A Novel Love Story.

I was also worried about the narrator since she was the same one for Sounds Like Love and was a big reason I DNF’d that book. Since my expectations were lowered and there was no singing, I was okay. 😅 She has a great old lady voice.

The Seven Year Slip is still my favorite, but this is a close second. ❤️🎱☀️

The past few romances I’ve read just haven’t been hitting like I hoped they would. Decided to try out something that was horny fun. Honestly? I was expecting it to be spicier. This is my first book by this author so maybe this is one of her tamer ones? Overall, this was sweet and a little spicy. A nice distraction from current events even with the heavier themes. I’ll definitely be checking out her other books.

This was wonderful. I love Tim Curry. I don’t think there was ever a chance I wouldn’t adore this. I enjoyed how the chapters were done by his work and then he would share moments with his family and friends. He said he wasn’t going to share about his romantic life and much respect to him. He shares enough of his life that you still get a feel for who he is and you can tell just how passionate he is about his craft. I also listened to the audiobook and I’m so grateful he was able to narrate. He does make some asides about having moments of difficulty with the sentences or knowing how slow he’s speaking. Don’t worry Tim, that’s why they allow for speeding up the audio which I did. 😅

Good grief. Echoing all the other reviews saying this is a rough but necessary read. Proceed with caution. Do what you need to protect yourself. ❤️

I had been putting this one off because I knew it was going to be heavy. I saw a video talking about the importance of watching and reading at least a little bit of what the incel/alt right community is consuming as a way to protect yourself and know what to look out for. Fair point so I went ahead and checked this out. I knew things were bad just didn’t know how bad. I think this is a good overview/primer of the manosphere. She does try to end on a positive note, but there’s just a lot of work and dismantling to be done.

Ugh, right in the feels. I loved this. I read a few reviews complaining about the miscommunication of it all and so I adjusted my expectations a little. After reading it, I feel like those reviews were missing the why around the miscommunication. They’re dealing with fresh ptsd and finding their way back to themselves and each other. It was a beautiful ride. I had a minor existential crisis right along with Roz in her drawing class. Loved the relationship between Roz and Vin. Also loved the dynamics with Raffi. Just so good all around. I laughed. I cried. Just a wonderful story.

First of all, I did not expect to see friendfiction pop up. I really thought that was just a Bob’s Burgers play on fanfiction. My bad. I know better now. 😅

Secondly, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It’s a solid romance. I agree with the blurb that it’s for Emily Henry fans. It has that familiar women’s fiction meets romance vibes. Georgie is trying to find herself in life after being let go and along the way she finds love. It was very sweet. Pacing was good. Nothing too fancy. Just what I needed.

Overall, a good time to be had. There were just a couple of things that would happen throughout that made me shake my head, but I was able to get passed it enough and enjoy. Max and Mary were good together (even with their age difference). I also loved the relationship and banter among all the other characters.

I do have the same complaints I had with first one. Just wanted a little bit more. The authors note in the beginning said there was more sex and violence than in the first one and I guess. The violence was there and balanced. But for the entire premise to be we need to make a baby, I expected more sex. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, you can absolutely get pregnant while on your period so that little moment annoyed me.

I’m not a huge fan of age gaps. I do this to myself, I know. Normally I can ignore their ages. Unfortunately, they kept referencing how old/young each other is and it made it hard to ignore. I will also say as someone who is almost 38, I had to roll my eyes at Max constantly making comment on how old he is. Making him seem like the crypt keeper not just a man in his late 30s. 😑

Had a much better time with this one than The Fake Mate. Grateful there was a different male narrator too. Just some good ole fun horny times. Though I did think there was going to be some major conflict at some point that ended up not happening. That kind of interfered with my enjoyment somewhat since I was waiting for the shoe to drop and it didn’t. I will be rereading this before turning it in so it’ll be less stressful. 😅

I — listen…this wasn’t awful, I just struggled to get invested. I always rolled my eyes at reviews that complained about the fmc acting too immature for her age. Well, after this book, I get it. She was supposed to be 24 but I would’ve also believed she was 16 and I just couldn’t get into it.

Sweet and easy read. Just what I needed. I was a little hesitant about the influencer angle, but it ended up being okay. Loved Carter and El together. I also liked that he was younger. A nice change of pace from all the age gaps I’ve been reading lately. Also, the P.I.S. bit was very good. Got me every time.

I think I enjoyed this more than her first book. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Charlie and Nova, I love them so much. 🥹❤️ This is officially my favorite of the series. Though now I kind of wish B.K. could rewrite Lovelight Farms to include Luka’s POV (not just the epilogue). Also, safe to say B.K. is one of my favorites and I will read anything she writes.

Unfortunately, this is my least favorite of the bunch. I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning. So many descriptions for the buildings and wasn’t quite sure where this was going so I wasn’t sure where my attention needed to be to the point that I found myself tuning out a few times. Even Ernest mentions how boring bank heists can be. Once everything started locking into place, I was in. The ending was great, getting there on the other hand was boring at times. Still a good time to be had unraveling the puzzle with Ernest, just not as engaging as the previous stories.
