I'm thinking of finally grabbing an e-reader as I've been tossing the idea for years now but have no clue which way to go. Kindle or Kobo?
What's everyone using + what do you love and hate about the one you have. spill the tea. I wanna know what's actually worth it before I commit 🩵💫

So far, I'm hating Warner so much, I just want to punch him. I've read some spoilers online and I really don't get how people could love him? Guys???? Hello?????

Heyyy, I was just wondering what everyone’s stance on Alchemised and the other Dramione books were. I personally feel like anything that is marketed as HP fanfiction will ultimately keep JKR relevant and bring her money, but I’m curious if there are any arguments on this I haven’t heard yet!

I'm feeling a bit under the weather so i just started reading and I've got a question for all of you. What is everyone's comfort book?? Like the book that you can reread an uncountable amount of times and still love it with your whole heart? The one where you know the whole plot but just find comfort with the characters and the world? Or maybe you don't reread this book but think about when you're sad? Or you don't have a book like this? If so, why?

Are there any books published in the 21st century that are already considered classics?

Will there be a way to alter what comes up on my feed. It’s a bit unnerving seeing posts for books I read 10+ years ago. It would be nice to just see posts from what I’ve read recently/ currently reading. And of course friends posts!

i've been seeing this trend on tiktok that they introduce themselves based on their (kindle) settings. it's also a nice way to like get the ball rolling when it comes to bookish friendships and stuff. with that, i'll go first!
hi, i'm sparkle from the Philippines 🇵🇭! i have a secondhand kindle paperwhite 7th gen (which i purchased on facebook at a little under Php 3,000 lol). i jailbroke it, so i often times use koreader for my reads, mainly because I read at night and the device does not have night mode natively. I switch from dark to light mode depending on the time and if there is ambient lighting. when I have my backlight, I usually keep it at 7. either just off or 7. nothing in between.
i keep my font size at 9 😆 main reason i bought a kindle was that i don't have to deal with reading smaller fonts as it makes my eye strain. i don't use glasses, my 20-20 vision is something i really cherish so i don't want eye strain especially when i normally use tech for work. i have bookerly as my font, just because i have gotten used to it. i have my bold on 1, just because i want the text to pop a little bit. i usually just use portrait mode while reading.
although i have a big font size, i want to compensate with the margins to be as little as possible, and the line spacing to be as little as well. i show my clock while reading because i usually get in the zone and forget the time, and i have time left in chapter as well so that i'll be motivated to finish it in the time listed below. another reason being if the chapter is quite long, and it is bedtime already, i know better to sleep than risk leaving the chapter unfinished 😆
i guess that's all about my settings, what about yours? feel free to comment, i will follow each one of you lol

I find myself guilty of using the sometimes annoying phrase, “The book is so much better”. What are some of your favorite book to movie adaptations of all time? Any that you feel were even better than the book or just as good? Any movies weren’t as good as the book, but still really good? Any that you were looking forward to but extremely disappointed with? One that comes to mind for me is “The Giver”. It was one of my favorite books growing up, and the movie was so disappointing.

Does anyone else like to listen to music while they read? And if so what do you like to listen to? Does it vary depending on what you’re reading? Or do you find it too distracting?
Personally, I’m super into music that fits the vibe of the book I’m reading. Like while I read Legends and Lattes I listened to some soft tavern ambience and now I’m reading dark gothic books and I’m listening to that type of vibe, like This Mortal Coil and Slowdive. I’d love music as well as reading so I’m curious to hear what you guys are listening to while you read! 😄

So long story short, I saw a movie last night that we thought could have been based on a book (it was not), but it got me thinking about movies based on books. Particularly ones that I wish would just be remade, or had something changed, and I wanted to see what others thought.
For me, I really wish The Giver were just remade. And I somewhat feel the same about The Hobbit, not because The Hobbit was bad, but I would like to see what they did with it if they left it as one movie and put the attention to detail in it that they did with the LOTR series.
For just changing some things, I wish there were some changes to the A Discovery of Witches series, mostly in the last season. However, the last season was filmed during COVID, and some of the changes made sense due to the restrictions. I just kind of wish it could be remade without said restrictions, as some scenes would have just been so nice if more characters were there or they had a bit more freedom in how they went about it 😅
What do you all think? Any adaptations you just want redone, or specific things you wish could be changed?
