This book put me through it (though definitely less than its characters) Haymitch as a character has always interested me and when I was a kid I wanted to know more about him… now here we are. This book was just tragedy after tragedy and somehow they continued to hit harder than the last. I’m happy he kept living to see a sunrise on his birthday that didn’t spell doom, and I’m happy that I was here to read it.
The image of our last three tributes around the same tree sharing chocolates genuinely brought tears to my eyes. They’re just children, they shouldn’t have to kill other kids and then worry about their image in the capital as well. Haymitch is such a sweet boy, I don’t want to see him turn so sad.
I knew this would hurt, I just didn’t expect that imagery.
