I haven't read any of his works yet, I tried but couldn't get into. But I often heard that his descriptions of women are very sexualised and one-dimensional. Do you think it is true ? Does it get better or worse with time ? Which are his books where it is less or not the case ?

For the Murakami readers out there, what's your opinion on him and his work? I know there's controversy around him, and as a long time fan of his books I'm starting to see the pattern in the plot of them. I'm curious about your thoughts on it!

I love reading a good memoir, and after starting this book, I immediately felt sucked in by it. It's giving me Mary Karr vibes!

This book touched something soft in my heart, how grief is described, how we try to escape from it and cope with it, and finally how we learn to give ourselves space to move on. I really liked it!

In the acknowledgements, the author writes "Don't let this book haunt you". Well, consider me haunted. I loved this book, the perfect mix of horror and coziness, dark academia and "run for your life". Confusing, longing, and with an ending that makes you ask yourself "was it even real?", I fully recommend it as an introduction to botanical horror.
