I really enjoyed this book. It’s a retelling of Snow White but with a darker twist think fae, magic, and Unseelie courts which I loved. The beginning was a bit slow but once it picked up, I was hooked especially in the second half.

The FMC did annoy me at times, but I feel like that was kind of the point? I’m hoping it leads to some solid character growth in the next book. I did really like the MMC though, his sass and the way he banters with Zara was so fun to read. I just wish we got a bit more emotional depth between them. It’s definitely a slow-burn romance, but I wanted more moments!!

The world-building was really interesting lots of fae lore, magic, and the whole Seelie vs. Unseelie dynamic. I do wish we got more details, but I’m guessing (and hoping) that comes later in the series. I also loved the underlying sense of danger and all the little Easter eggs sprinkled throughout. Some twists I saw coming, but a few definitely surprised me.

Overall, a really solid start and I’m super excited to see where the next book goes! (less)
