This book was not necessarily my cup of tea but I understand it's importance. We learn about the time of the witch hunt and how women had to stand trial and were killed due to baseless assumptions.
What I liked: The book's setting and the description of the town, the market, the people. It felt very vibrant and I could imagine it will.
I also learned a lot about life in the 16th century.
What I disliked: the story felt very bleak and hopeless. This obviously is part of the deal for a story with this theme but I wanted to at least experience more movement. The story was so slow at times that it bored me.
Martha was an interesting character but wasn't really utilized in my opinion. She, too, felt bleak at times. I wanted more anger, more fighting or at least a bigger story around her conflicts of having this difficult past.
All in all I didn't care enough and it sucks, because the topic is SO important. I'm still grateful for the learnings in this book but it just wasn't for me
