I love Janice Hallett’s epistolary novels. This one was another wild ride. A bit harder to follow at times, I absolutely did not guess a lot of the reveals. Worth the read.

The biggest critique I have of the book is that the ending felt rushed and there were still stories I felt weren’t wrapped up. I love Uketsu’s books because they’re quick reads and grab my attention during slumps and I do think this book was stronger than Strange Houses but I just felt like a lot of the big reveals were obvious early on and I was just waiting for the characters to figure it all out. The core story was really interesting and had twists and turns I really enjoyed though.

It’s interesting to specify it’s in 2020… will covid be brought up or ignored I wonder

God I love T. Kingfisher. Everything about this was perfect and I can’t wait for the next book. The world of the White Rat is so lovely and I love how many characters are appearing through out different books. The banter she writes is just so good too… I was in a reading slump and couldn’t pic up a book but I kept picking this up again and again.

All smut no plot. Fine if that’s what you want but I feel like there was more that could’ve been done with this premise. It was also really odd getting the story from the male POV. Also the audiobook is odd cause there’s a female voice like 3 or 4 times and it just threw me off cause 90% of the book has the male VA doing the female voices. I didn’t really care about any of the characters either…
