I really wanted to like this more than I did. This was the definition of 100% smut 0% plot. There were actually a few plot holes and things that didn’t even make sense. Like the author makes a point of saying Luke marks down that he’s not bringing a plus one and then he brings Layla and we don’t even discuss that it just happens. Like why even bring up that he does that then? The smut was good but it would have been better if I cared more about the characters and their lives. This felt like porn in a book. Like there’s this plot that was added as embellishment but has no actual substance. I will try another of her books in case this is one off flop but I feel quite disappointed…

It was interesting to revisit the world of the Fairway Players. I really enjoyed how fast paced this novella was and I’m curious what roles the newly introduced characters will play in the next book that’s coming out next year…

Rating Elsie Silver books is always tough because I love all her work. The rose hill series so far hasn’t really hit for me but I think a large part of that is because the single dad trope doesn’t really do it for me (maybe when I’m older it’ll be more endearing?) it was a lovely love story but I didn’t really care about the characters as much as I have others that she has written… I look forward to the next one.

This book was basically just Kurihara blind guessing and getting it right. And I ate it up. Was the true story convoluted and crazy? Yeah, but honestly I loved it. It’s kind of fun when books do get a little crazy. I just wish there were more red herrings and misdirects sprinkled through…

I adore Janice Hallett’s unique delivery of mystery. This wasn’t my favourite of hers, as it was a bit hard to track and some parts felt quite predictable, but I still felt like there were a lot of fun twists.

Very neutral read. Nothing amazing, nothing horrible.
