God I love T. Kingfisher. Everything about this was perfect and I can’t wait for the next book. The world of the White Rat is so lovely and I love how many characters are appearing through out different books. The banter she writes is just so good too… I was in a reading slump and couldn’t pic up a book but I kept picking this up again and again.

All smut no plot. Fine if that’s what you want but I feel like there was more that could’ve been done with this premise. It was also really odd getting the story from the male POV. Also the audiobook is odd cause there’s a female voice like 3 or 4 times and it just threw me off cause 90% of the book has the male VA doing the female voices. I didn’t really care about any of the characters either…

This had me hooked. Even with some series spoilers I wasn’t able to avoid, I was still taken on such a wild ride and things were just so much crazier than I could ever imagine. I have no idea what’s next and I’m hyped to read the next book. Holy shit.

Oh boy…. This is a really tough book to rate. There were times where I was really enjoying the story and the character study, and then there were times where I was confused or bored. I honestly think this is a book I will enjoy much more in a reread (which is not something I do but never say never honestly). There are some critiques from game industry folks about misrepresentation and also improper crediting for concepts that I find frustrating which also lowered the score for me (If ppl enjoyed the concept of Solution you can look up “Train” by Brenda Romero). I think if I were to read the book again I would not listen to the audiobook, the narrators were great but the voice change was random and off putting and it was hard to track what was going on without visual cues that you would have in print or ebook. Overall, if you like lit fic and books about real people who make annoying choices, I would say give this a read, it was quite enjoyable at parts as long as you let yourself be a bit confused at times.
