I too have fallen madly and deeply in love with Magdalene Box.
Of course, Milena Mckay would be able to re-tell the same story and manage to make it just as intriguing as the original. It might be better to put some time inbetween reading The Headmistress and Magdalene Box, instead of reading them back to back like I did, since there's a fair bit of repetition as this is a companion book to the first and not a proper sequel. Nonetheless, I wasn't ready to move on from Sam and Magdalene quite yet, so it didn't negatively affect my overall enjoyment of the story.

I've been getting quite some suggestions for books for this quest, so I thought it might be easier to have a specific place just for suggestions (if you've already commented books, don't worry about it, I've already have them written down and will add them over time 🫶).
Please ensure that the book has a sapphic romance/sapphic main characters that are important to the plot! And don't forget to write both the name and author of the book. Looking forward to your suggestions :)

Read it because I was excited at the prospect of a lesbian romance novel that had two Asian FMCs and was set in an Emergency Room. Imagine my surprise to discover that the cover art is very misleading as our FMCs are both white women, which is the most frustrating part of it all, and that barely any of the actual story itself occurs within said ER.

IM SICK!!! IM CLAWING AT THE WALLS!!! RATTLING THE BARS OF MY CAGE!!! BARKING AT THE MOON AND THE MAILMAN!!!
I love a giant knight woman and her small historian man. It's the only straight(?) couple archetype that should exist 🙂‍↕️ this book fucks severely and it's already a five star even though I'm not done yet!!!!

This will def be a re-read at some point down the road. Abby Craden did an amazing job at narrating, her narration always pairs perfectly with McKay's work, I'd just went into this once with a different mindset and hadn't realized the story wasn't nearly as light-hearted as McKay's Headmistress books.

Sweet and simple! Hadn't expected to listen to this one all the way through tbh I only put it on as a maybe while I searched for other books to borrow on Libby and ended up charmed by it quickly enough. Did not initially pin it as fanfic bc I've never been into that show/fandom but the story being set in Canada makes a lot more sense now. Also kept forgetting it was set in Canada and not in the South US that I got a jolt every time the narrator said 'sorry'.

this audiobook ended up being the perfect companion during a three and a half hour drive and back.
while McKay's prose is wonderful on its own, Abby Craden's narration adds a magical quality to it every time! I think she amped it up a notch for this one because Magdalene's voice is beyond addictive.
The romance was steller and the tension between our two love birds was palpable through the entire story. I tend to quickly get tired of sex scenes, despite loving when characters are endlessly horny for each other, but Mckay is good about balancing the smut and not lingering on those scenes for an unnecessary amount of time.
