Despite this being just an okay book for me, I find myself still thinking of Rachel flowers and the book series she wrote. I ADORED the small town vibes, the plots that were described, etc. Which really stuck with me, because I'm not usually a small town contemp rom reader. Does anyone have any recs for a series like that?? I prefer not any cowboys, unless its an extremely good read that will change my mind. Please help! I want to fall in love with a small town series like I did with the fictional one in this book. I cant stop thinking about it!

I feel like I used to be able to rely on reviews and book recommendations SO much more than I can now. I joined Goodreads in 2012, and back then, when a book had a 4+ star rating, there was an almost guarantee that I would at least like the book enough to finish it. Nowadays, I feel it's a 50/50 shot at best. I don't know if BookTok or the obsession with books that primarily focus on smut rather than substance has anything to do with it (don't get me wrong, I do like my smut from time to time), but I'm curious if anyone else feels similarly. One of the main reasons I love PageBound is that the platform isn't completely saturated with the same kinds of readers, and there is an opportunity to rate books on more than one aspect. I think it's great to be able to rate how much you enjoyed a book separately from its quality (which I know quality is also going to be based on opinion, but at least there is an opportunity to separate the two a little).

I've read books with both longer chapters and shorter ones and depending on the book and plot I'd say they fit... but, longer chapters feel intimidating. I feel like I can read multiple shorter chapters alot faster than the longer ones, even if they total up to the same number of pages. (For example: chapters 1-5 = 30 pages as opposed to chapter 1 = 30 pages) Does anyone else feel like that? Do you prefer longer chapters or shorter ones?

I have heard some of you guys are mood readers, I was wondering how you explain mood reading is? Is it ambiance, the genre, intensity, plot or character focus? I’m so curious how many of you categorize the books! I think I also might be a mood readers, I think😂 but I don’t know what my moods are like. What mood are you guys currently reading?

How long do you guys wait between reading a book and writing a review? Historically, i've done so immediately, but I often find myself coming back to my review and editing it after i've sat with it for a little while, especially if I engage in forums/other content and realise that I have misunderstood something or there was a little more nuance than I picked up on.

I like all these povs but I'm so dreadfully lost. Such is the course for fantasy. I love the posh way they talk in court, smth about reading that type of language and atmosphere tickles my fancy. its so fun to read about and really sets the tone for me. Also, this goes by so slow! I've been reading for 1 hr 20 mins (I time myself for tracking purposes) and ive only gotten to 7%! This is gonna take me forever T-T but it had such a wonderful start, I'm excited to read more tomorrow

Okay I just had to go back and reread half of chapter one because I was not paying near enough attention T-T I missed so many things. This author really sneaks some details into small paragraphs and crucial things into like one sentence. I got halfway done before I was like wait the woman at the door wasn't the first woman?? what? what happened? and yeah note to self READ SLOWER for this one lmao I usually don't have a problem with gleaning details from what I read but I guess this book just requires me to slow down and savor it. I'm not used to reading that way so this'll be fun
