Oh my gosh. I nearly cried at the end. You know when you read or hear something so tragic, and you want to think of something to say, but no words flow? That is how I feel. I feel like my most powerful words are silence after reading this.

some metaphors are so obvious and some just aren’t. i thought this book was really sappy and predictable (except for him going to paris..) but honestly i think it HAS to be that way. gay romance deserves the sappy predictability that other romance novels receive.
i love aristotle and dante. they are young and have their faults and believe that they are philosophers but honestly i support them. cuz who doesn’t think that they’re discovering the secrets of the universe with their lover by their side?
i love what a huge role the adults in their lives play in their love stories. and i love how much importance the role of being a teacher is. cuz it’s SO overlooked and it is so under appreciated.
i love this book for its obvious messages and for its sweetness and sappy cheesy lines. i hated and loved the conversations but i can’t hate cuz that’s how i talk w my gf so im just a hater.
i loveeeeddddd having this read by lin manuel miranda. he deserves that oscar for this performance. he really brought this book to life.
it def took me a while to get thru the beginning of the story but once it picked up i was happy.
side note: sophocles is the most ridiculous name for a baby but alas what do i know

I didn't know much about the 19th century Chinese culture and loved what this book brought to life. The characters were flawed and believable. It also helped me appreciate the freedoms I have and that I am of worth as a woman, and so is my daughter. This was an excellent read.
