Other people reading that she went to the arctic circle (I assume): Wooooow the darkness, the wildness, soooo far north!
Norwegians reading that she went to the arctic circle: What? Why would she stop there? There's four days of travelling - by car! - to get to the northern shores of mainland Norway from there, what, this doesn't
(Really loving the book so far though, I'm only poking for the fun of this 😬😅)

I accidentally read a very popular book, and I didn't much like it. The problem is that because it's so popular, it's taking up about 70% of my feed right now. I disagree with nearly everything people say about it (I won't say which book it is so I don't start an argument that boils down to taste being different, lol), and it's getting a bit much.
I figure it's rude to ask people to stop talking about it, so I'm wondering if there's a way to mute a book? Or do I have to delete it and lose my progress on a badge I really wanted? :')
EDIT: I have no integrity, so the second someone asked which book it was, I told them. Sorry.

EDIT: thank you so much everyone for the recommendations - I'll make my way through them and add them to my list ❤️
Hey, I'm definitely a novel/non fiction gal. But recently I've been going through a bit of a non-fiction phase - have loved Cult-ish, Men who hate women, jailbirds and Witchcraft (a history in 13 trials).
Does anyone have any recommendations of non fiction they love? Please no self help/autobiography style as I've read a lot in the past and don't want anymore and find a lot of the recommendations fall into these categories. I just want to read about interesting topics, in a way that engaging - would love any help thanks in advance.

I’m so jealous of people who are able to listen to audiobooks! My mind always drifts away and I forget I’m listening to one. Then I have to rewind ten minutes again. The only time it almost worked was when I went for runs. Anyone else has this problem and figured out how to make it work?

Exactly what you should be reading before Halloween, really. A "whodunnit", but in paranormal spooky-scary-kinda way. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes the genre, really. Quite different from the netflix version.

I did enjoy the book, but it should be said that it has aged rather poorly. That being said, I didn't rate it highly because I thought it was a chaotic and, for lack of a better phrase, "busy" book. Even with the plot being fairly well thought out (aside from being quite controversial in 2025), the reading experience wasn't the best. Worth reading, but not my favourite.

I wasn't a huge fan of this. Kept waiting for it to really suck me in, but never got there. An okay vacation poolside book, but that's about it for me.

I’m looking for all my lovely people who don’t pick up Zionist and problematic authors. I genuinely feel like it’s so hard finding people on here. I’ll always take a peek at their library. It’s always such a disappointment with those specific authors and for the people I do follow. I love you guys so much. I love to know that there’s humanity in the bookish space. Please sound off below if you are an ally, so to say. I would love to follow more people 🥹🫶🏼🙂↕️

Everyone on here always recommends the most amazing books. The ones they loved, the ones that changed them.
But give me a fantasy book or series that you wanted to rip apart- that you only finished out of SPITE
I very much enjoy reading 1-star reviews of books to see if I would hate the book too, or if it would actually be for me. People are more honest about a book if they hated it 😆 (in my opinion)
So give me a fantasy book you hated, and why?!

A good read, and a good rewrite of the original (which is also good). Well worth the time.

I don't think I really much like that the basis of the story is a revolution, born out of greed from people in power crushing small islanders, and yet the main character is just this air-head girly not aware or understanding of the struggles. This is giving comfortable in my own privilege, and I know it's not the point of the book/story, but that's exactly my point : why make it the background of the situation or a character uninterested in the actual hardships of people.
I'm not fond of the "I like books better than people" POV when the reason is you just don't care about people, period.
I hope it will develop into something and let Kiela grow, but she's not relatable or cute right now.
