Welcome to the Centennial. Every 100 years, the island of Lightlark appears to host the Centennial, a deadly game that only the rulers of six realms are invited to play. The invitation is a summons—a call to embrace victory and ruin, baubles and blood. The Centennial offers the six rulers one final chance to break the curses that have plagued their realms for centuries. Each ruler has something to hide. Each realm’s curse is uniquely wicked. To destroy the curses, one ruler must die. Isla Crown is the young ruler of Wildling—a realm of temptresses cursed to kill anyone they fall in love with. They are feared and despised, and are counting on Isla to end their suffering by succeeding at the Centennial. To survive, Isla must lie, cheat, and betray…even as love complicates everything.

Eh. I don't think this is for me, I'm not really into a thick romance plot and this writing isn't making it better. I could see it being for someone else though, it isn't the worst thing ever written as some of the reviews I had seen suggested.
I am really torn on DNFing this, I'm not really enjoying it, but oddly enough I am finding the audiobook very easy to follow? I am listening while I am working and I am able to follow what is happening pretty easily, that never happens for me. If I am not reading along with a copy of the book I will ALWAYS tune an audiobook out haha.
Alex Aster gets thrown into my suggested social media content a lot, so I do find myself consuming quite a bit of media from her. This writing feels exactly how she talks and presents herself on social media haha. It is kind of ruining the immersion of the book for me 😩
