When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls "an animal rights organization." Tom's team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda and they're in trouble. It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society that's found its way to the alternate world. Others have, too--and their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die.

If you are looking for a book that is incredibly well written but also makes you laugh with every other sentence I highly recommend you try this book. This is the first book that I picked up by John Scalzi and I am extremely happy with my pick.
This takes place at the beginning of the pandemic and our main character, Jamie, finds himself fired from his job and working as a food delivery dasher when he meets Tom. Tom completely changes Jamie's life by offering him a job 'lifting things' with no more detail then that. Jamie finds out that there is a second earth with a completely different environment and giant kaiju.
The interaction between Jamie and the other people in the KPS is amazing, the banter is hilarious along with the interactions with the kaiju. But not only is this book incredibly funny, it was well researched. Scalzi was able to write about what each doctor did in detail.
This was a great read and I plan on trying more of John Scalzi's book soon.
