After letting this one sit a few weeks, I’m bumping it up to a full 5 stars. I love this book. It made me want to work hard and love my family. We follow a woman, Hannah, through her life starting in the 1930s up until the 2000s. There is no like big overarching plot or conflict, it’s just her life and it is so beautiful. I had to keep reminding myself that these characters were not real and this book wasn’t written by Hannah. I’ve never felt more like a cast of characters were real like this book. This was my first Wendell Berry book and I plan on reading more.
3.5 stars. So wholesome, so serene, so realistic.
