Recs if you like The Emperor and the Endless Palace...

While it is highly celebrated in June, the Queer community exists all year long and this working list is created to support/encourage others to read more literature written by & represented people within said community.

When the love story and the world building go hand in claw. For series, only the first book is listed.

Fantasy books with queer rep

Please let me know if there are any I should add.

when “a love for the ages” goes literal, these romances bend time, break rules, and (mostly) spark joy in every timeline.

sagas that span centuries

as always, open to suggestions!

This is a collection of queer books written by bipoc authors that fall into the genre of fantasy and/or sci-fi (supernatural horror is also included)

(If a book is part of a series I only put the first book because otherwise it gets messy very quickly)

Recommendations are always welcome!!!

Some gems, some disasters... All selected for the cover. Contents may vary. Read at your own risk. ... *NB: There are different editions out there, but these are specifically the ones available here. ... Most of these I've seen in the book store. I've not read all of these but hopefully will one day. Recommendations are welcome.

For when attraction feels indistinguishable from vengeance. Achillean romances built on rivalry, old wounds, forbidden desire, obsession, political or familial loyalties, and the kind of hatred that has become far too intimate to be simple hate. Bonus points for princes, power imbalances, doomed devotion, and men who can’t decide whether they want to kiss each other or ruin each other’s lives.

I thought it would be nice to have all of them in one long list.

queer dark historical fantasy (mostly sapphic) (not necessarily medieval but necessarily set before modern technology)

Books that received the 2025 Stonewall Honor. Categories include Children’s and Young Adult Literature, Non-Fiction, and Literature.

These Diverse Baseline Challenge was created by @bookish.millennial & @themargherita.s (on instagram). In 2025, the goal is to read 1 book by a racialized author each month. This challenge is meant to encourage readers to try genres they historically don’t reach for, find new-to-them racialized authors, and to encourage reflection on our reading habits.

This is a mix of recommendations by the challenge organizers and myself.

Collecting books that would categorise as romance/romantasy/fantasy with prominent romance subplot that booksandlala has rated 4 stars or higher.

Feel free to suggest more books that would fit into this list, correct wrongly added books or suggest improvements to this list ☺️

The Books that didn't get any of the main awards, but we're still stamped with being an Honor Book.
