Recs if you like Death Wish...

A list of (mostly) mystery books with sapphic main characters.

I included some books of other genres that have a strong mystery element.

put!! them!! both!! on!! the!! cover!! we want chemistry, detailing and design!! WUH! LUH! WUH! shakes the publisher some of these are series so check out the rest!

romances that involve the afterlife with one, or both, of the MCs being ghosts, spirits, or reapers.

no vampires or dark romance, there's other great lists for those recs!

sapphic books with dark, messy, & morally gray romance and/or homoeroticism

your fave iconic lesbian books were written by bi+ authors!!!

mostly to oppose the erasure of essential bisexual participation in lesbian literature and misinformation that bi+ women broadly prefer mlm to wlw. most of these authors have several sapphic books so make sure to check out the rest! many are also nonbinary, trans and/or on the aro/ace spectrums so please be mindful of their pronouns, labels (or lack thereof) and gender identities. suggestions welcomed!

I'm getting way too excited about 2027 sapphic releases! Let me know if there are any on your radar 😍

in shoujo manga/anime, the “crimson rose and candy” archetype historically features romance between a confident, alluring “crimson rose” (often with high-contrast, dramatic or gothic features and aesthetics) and a more feminine, blithe “candy” (often with low-contrast, airy or pink features and aesthetics). while these stories in yuri originated as queer coming-of-age tragedy, i love identifying similar polarity frameworks in my favourite lesbian/sapphic novels alongside its various subversions!
